IELTS Speaking Sample Answers

Part 1

Q: Do you consider yourself a healthy person?

A: Yes, I’d say I’m generally healthy. I make an effort to eat a balanced diet with plenty of fruits and vegetables, and I exercise regularly by going for runs and doing yoga. I also try to get enough sleep each night, though sometimes that can be challenging with my busy schedule. Of course, there’s always room for improvement, but overall, I feel I maintain good health habits.

Part 2

I’d like to talk about a healthy habit I’ve developed: meditation. I started meditating about a year ago because I was feeling overwhelmed with work and wanted to find a way to calm my mind. I think it’s important because it helps me manage my mood, improves my focus, and contributes to my overall mental well-being. To develop this habit, I started small, just meditating for five minutes each morning using a guided app. Gradually, I increased the duration and now I meditate for 15-20 minutes daily. This habit has significantly affected my life. I find I’m more patient in challenging situations, I sleep better, and I’m generally more aware of my thoughts and emotions. It’s also improved my productivity at work as I’m better able to concentrate on tasks without getting distracted. Overall, meditation has become an essential part of my daily routine that contributes greatly to my mental and emotional health.

Part 3

Q: How has the concept of health changed in recent years?

A: The concept of health has evolved significantly in recent years, becoming much more holistic and comprehensive. Traditionally, health was often viewed primarily in terms of physical well-being and the absence of disease. However, there’s now a growing recognition that true health encompasses mental, emotional, and social aspects as well. We’re seeing increased emphasis on preventive care and lifestyle choices, rather than just treating illnesses as they arise. Mental health, in particular, has gained much more attention and is increasingly viewed as equally important as physical health. There’s also a greater focus on the role of factors like nutrition, sleep management in overall health. Additionally, the rise of personalized medicine and genetic research is leading to more individualized approaches to health. Another significant shift is the growing interest in integrative medicine, which combines conventional medical treatments with complementary therapies. Overall, these changes reflect a more nuanced and comprehensive understanding of what it means to be truly healthy in today’s world.
